Hex Lord Malacrass

Hex Lord Malacrass Strategy — Zul'Aman

Phase 4 · Zul'Aman · 2-3 tanks, 3-4 healers, rest dps

The penultimate boss, flanked by four random adds drawn from a pool of troll champions — each with its own class kit, so the fight changes every attempt. Malacrass himself Drains Power (a huge self-buff over time) and steals a random raid member's abilities, making him a soft-enrage you must beat before his stolen spells and stacking buff overwhelm you.

Fight phases

  1. 1

    Adds phase

Malacrass spawns with four of his eight possible add companions (healer, mage, rogue, hunter, etc.). CC and kill the adds by priority — enemy healers first — while off-tanks hold them apart from the boss.

  2. 2

    Malacrass burn

With adds down, focus Malacrass. He casts the spells of whichever classes he stole from and Drains Power stacks a growing damage buff — burn him before it snowballs.

By role

Tanks

One tank on Malacrass, off-tanks on the adds kept separated. Which adds spawn changes the tank/CC assignments every pull — adapt the marking each attempt. Drain Power makes his melee scarier over time.

Healers

The add composition dictates the healing — an enemy healer or caster set is far harder than melee adds. Malacrass mirrors a raid member's abilities and Drains Power into a soft enrage; cooldowns for the late burn.

DPS

Kill the adds by priority (heals/casters first), respecting CC. Then tunnel Malacrass and beat the Drain Power stacks. Because the adds are randomized, keep flexible kill-order and CC plans.

Common mistakes

  • Not adapting CC/kill order to the randomized add set.
  • Dragging the fight out until Drain Power stacks too high.
