Points do not stack across brackets — you receive points from your single highest-earning team only. A bracket counts only if you played 10+ rated games in it that week.

How to use the calculator

  1. Enter your team ratingfor any bracket you play — 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5. You don't need all three.
  2. Read the per-bracket results. The highlighted card is your highest-earning bracket.
  3. The large number is what you'll actually receive at the weekly reset — points never stack across brackets.
  4. Use the required rating lookup to work backwards from a points target, and the gear planner to estimate weeks until your next purchase.

The arena points formula, explained

TBC Classic awards weekly arena points from your team rating r using a logistic curve — flat at low ratings, steep through the 1600–2200 range, then flattening again as it approaches the cap:

points = (1176.94 / (1 + 2,500,000 · e^(-0.009r)) + 475) × 1.5

That base value is then scaled by a bracket multiplier:

  • 2v2×0.76cap ≈ 1,883 pts
  • 3v3×0.88cap ≈ 2,181 pts
  • 5v5×1.00cap ≈ 2,478 pts

Blizzard never published the server-side constants, so this is the community-documented formula. If in-game values diverge, the constants live in one file and can be re-tuned in seconds.

Requirements & eligibility

  • 10-game minimum. You must play at least 10 rated games in a bracket during the week for that bracket to award points.
  • Weekly reset. Points land at the reset — Tuesday on US realms, Wednesday on EU realms.
  • Team rating, not personal rating. The award is computed from your team's rating at reset time.
  • No stacking. If you meet the minimum in several brackets, you receive points from the single highest-earning one — not the sum.

Arena points by rating

Weekly points at common rating milestones. This table is generated from the exact same formula as the calculator above, so the two always agree.

Which bracket gives the most points?

At equal rating, 5v5 always pays the most — it carries the full ×1.00 multiplier, while 3v3 is scaled to ×0.88 and 2v2 to ×0.76. A 1700-rated 5v5 team out-earns a 1700-rated 2v2 team by roughly a third.

In practice, most players find it easier to push rating in 2v2 or 3v3 than to keep a 5v5 team queueing. Because the curve is steep through the mid ratings, a strong 2v2 rating can still out-earn a mediocre 5v5 rating — enter both above and the calculator will highlight whichever team actually pays more.

Frequently asked questions

How many arena points do I get per week in TBC Classic?

Your weekly arena points depend on your team rating and bracket. At 1500 rating you earn roughly 850–1,100 points depending on bracket; at 2000+ you approach the bracket's cap. Enter your rating in the calculator above for the exact number.

Does this calculator use the official Blizzard formula?

It uses the community-documented TBC arena points formula with the standard bracket multipliers (2v2 ×0.76, 3v3 ×0.88, 5v5 ×1.00). Blizzard has never published the exact server-side constants, so small differences from in-game values are possible. All constants are kept in one place so the calculator can be re-tuned quickly if live values diverge.

Do arena points stack across brackets?

No. You are awarded points from your single highest-earning eligible bracket only. Playing all three brackets does not add the totals together.

What rating do I need to earn 1,000 arena points per week?

Roughly 1,455 team rating in 5v5, 1,510 in 3v3, or 1,565 in 2v2. Use the Required Rating lookup on this page to get the exact rating for any points target in any bracket.

How long does it take to buy a full gear set with arena points?

A full 5-piece arena set costs around 8,250 arena points, plus about 3,750 for a main weapon. At ~1,000 points per week that is roughly 12 weeks for everything; higher-rated teams shave several weeks off. Use the gear planner to estimate your own timeline.

Does my personal rating affect the points I earn?

Weekly point awards are based on team rating, not personal rating. Personal rating matters for purchasing certain high-end items in later seasons, which carry a rating requirement.

When do arena points get awarded?

Points are awarded at the weekly reset: Tuesday for US realms and Wednesday for EU realms. You must have played at least 10 rated games in a bracket that week for it to count.
