Turbocleave (Warrior / Enhance / Druid) — TBC Arena 3s Guide

CleaveDifficulty Season 2

Turbocleave is the purest expression of raw melee tempo in Season 2: an Arms Warrior and an Enhancement Shaman glue themselves to one target while a Resto Druid keeps them topped. It has no setup, no CC chains, and no plan B. You simply hit one thing so hard, so fast, that the enemy healer runs out of mana or globals before your Druid does.

Overview

Turbocleave wins the tempo war and loses the control war. The Shaman's Windfury Totem and Unleashed Rage supercharge both melee, so the Warrior's Mortal Strike and the Shaman's Stormstrike land back-to-back for spike damage that ignores any need for a coordinated CC opener. Against healers who have to stand still and cast, Purge and relentless pressure drown them before your own resources dry up. This is a comp that punishes greed and immobility.

The flip side is that everything the comp lacks, the good teams have. You bring one fear and a Frost Shock for peel; that is it. Any composition with a Mage, a Warlock, or a kiting Druid can root, sheep, and fear your Warrior into irrelevance while chipping your Druid from range. Turbocleave farms teams that stand and fight and gets kited into oblivion by teams that run. Your whole job is forcing the former fight and denying the latter.

Win condition

Pick the enemy healer's most fragile ally or the healer himself and train him from the first global. The Warrior opens with Charge into Hamstring, applies Mortal Strike to cut healing by 50%, and never leaves melee; the Shaman drops Windfury Totem, keeps the target snared with Frost Shock, and weaves Stormstrike plus Earth Shock. When the healer commits to a big cast, the Shaman Purges the resulting HoTs and shields, then both melee pop Bloodlust, Death Wish, and Recklessness together for a burst window no single healer survives. If they LoS, follow with Intercept and Intimidating Shout to reset the train.

Strengths

  • +Windfury + Stormstrike + Mortal Strike stacks a wall of instant melee pressure that few healers can out-heal once Bloodlust drops
  • +Purge and Grounding Totem tear apart Druid and Priest healers who rely on casts, turning their mana against them
  • +No ramp needed: charge in, apply Hamstring and the wound, and you are already at kill pressure from the opener

Weaknesses

  • Almost no hard CC beyond one Intimidating Shout and Frost Shock, so caster-control comps kite the Warrior out of range for the whole game
  • Both damage dealers are melee with mediocre mobility once snared or rooted, and neither can peel a train off the Druid

Cooldown timeline

Open clean: no cooldowns for the first ten seconds while you establish the Mortal Strike wound and a Frost Shock snare so the target cannot simply walk out. Once the healer is forced to hardcast, the Shaman Purges and both melee blow Bloodlust + Death Wish + Recklessness + Windfury on the same target for the kill window. Save Intimidating Shout for the moment the pocket healer starts a clutch cast or to peel a swap off your Druid, and hold the Druid's Nature's Swiftness + Cyclone to counter the enemy's own burst attempt. Shamanistic Rage covers your Shaman when a caster trains him back.

Positioning

Fight on top of a pillar so your melee can weave line-of-sight against enemy casters while staying in range of your kill target. The Resto Druid plays the far side of that same pillar, HoT-rolling and kiting so a swap onto him costs the enemy several globals to reach; he must never get caught in the open by a Rogue or Mage. The Shaman drops Grounding Totem in the sightline of enemy casters to eat a Polymorph or Fear, and Tremor Totem preemptively where fears will land. Keep both melee stacked on the target but not stacked on each other, so a single Frost Nova or Cyclone cannot lock the whole train at once.

Vs. the meta

vs RMP (Rogue / Mage / Priest)Guide →

RMP kites you all day with Frost Nova, Blind, sheep, and Blast Wave while the Priest sits safe behind pillars. Do not chase the Mage across the open — you will eat every root and lose the Warrior to the kite. Instead force the fight onto a pillar, drop Grounding Totem to eat a sheep or Blast Wave, and Tremor Totem for the Blind and Fear. Train the Priest, not the Mage: Mortal Strike him, Purge every Renew and shield, and save Intimidating Shout for his drink or a key Flash Heal cast. If they swap onto your Druid, Nature's Swiftness a Cyclone on the Rogue and body-block with your Shaman.

vs MLD (Mage / Lock / Druid)Guide →

Mage/Lock/Druid is the nightmare kite: chain roots, Frost Nova, Fear, and a Druid who Cyclones your Warrior out of every burst window while the casters DoT and nuke from max range. You cannot out-attrition them, so you must land a fast kill before their control fully cycles. Pre-drop Tremor and Grounding Totems, wait for the Shaman to have a Grounding up before you commit, then Bloodlust + Death Wish on the Warlock the instant he is snared and out of Fear range. Purge every UA and shield off the Druid, and use Piercing Howl plus Frost Shock to keep at least one caster in melee at all times so they can never all freecast.

Gear requirements

  • Warrior and Shaman prioritize resilience to survive caster burst, then top-end weapon damage (a slow 2H for the Warrior's Mortal Strike, matched fast/slow mainhand + offhand for Windfury on the Shaman) to maximize spike.
  • Resto Druid stacks resilience and mana/spirit regen (Innervate uptime is everything) so he can outlast attrition while kiting; +healing is secondary to simply not dying to the swap.

Tips

  • Purge is your win button against Druid and Priest teams: strip Riptide-less HoTs, Renews, and Power Word: Shields before every burst so your damage lands raw.
  • Stagger Death Wish, Recklessness, Bloodlust, and Windfury procs into a single target on the same global window; spreading them out just gives the healer time to react.
  • Drop Grounding Totem proactively in the caster's sightline to eat the Polymorph or Fear that starts their kill chain, and refresh it on cooldown.
  • Keep Frost Shock and Hamstring rolling on the kill target at all times; the moment your snare drops on a caster comp, the Warrior is out of the fight.
