Overview
RLP is the attrition twin of RMP: swap the Frost Mage's spike and Sheep for an Affliction Warlock's DoT grind and Fear, and you get a comp that wins the long game instead of the burst race. The Warlock's Corruption, Curse of Agony, Siphon Life and Unstable Affliction tick on every enemy at once while the Rogue applies pointed pressure, dragging the opposing healer into a mana war he can't win.
The Felhunter's Devour Magic gives you a second dispel alongside the Priest, which is what makes this comp so aggressive — you can strip roots off your Rogue and cleanse debuffs off your Priest without spending a global on defense. That freedom keeps your Rogue glued to the target far longer than most setup comps manage, and once the enemy healer commits to a big heal, the Rogue's Cold Blood-less but Premeditation-fueled opener converts the opening into a kill.
Win condition
You win by attrition converting into a burst window. Keep all three DoTs plus Curse of Agony rolling on the enemy healer and their most fragile DPS so the healer is permanently reactive, then coordinate the kill: Rogue Shadowsteps in with Premeditation into Cheap Shot, the Warlock Fears or Seduces the off-healer/peeler, and the Priest layers Mana Burn to close the healer's escape. Kidney Shot chained off a Hemorrhage-stacked target during a Blind on the healer is the classic finish — with the healer blinded and the peeler feared, even a Warlock's sustained damage plus a Rogue burst kills before anyone can trinket-and-top.
Strengths
- +Relentless spread pressure from Corruption, Curse of Agony, Siphon Life and UA that forces the enemy healer into triage
- +Double dispel via Felhunter Devour Magic plus Priest, so your Rogue stays unrooted and your healer stays clean
- +Layered CC — Blind, Kidney Shot, Cheap Shot, Fear and Seduce — chains into unbreakable kill windows
Weaknesses
- −Lower raw burst than RMP, so a well-topped target can be healed through a sloppy setup
- −Priest is the linchpin — get him CC-chained or Mana Burned out and the whole comp collapses
Cooldown timeline
Open by spreading DoTs and reading their healer's dispel priority. First real go: Rogue uses Shadowstep + Premeditation + Cheap Shot on the kill target while the Warlock opens with Fear or Succubus Seduce on the enemy healer, Priest follows with Mana Burn. Save Blind for the moment the healer trinkets or tries to peel — Blind on the healer + Kidney Shot on the target is your hardest window. Warlock holds Death Coil as an interrupt/peel and Howl of Terror for when melee collapse on the Priest. Rogue's Preparation resets Blind/Vanish/Sprint for a second setup; Cloak of Shadows saves the Rogue from a Sheep or Cyclone lockout. Priest keeps Pain Suppression and trinket for the enemy's kill attempt on him.
Positioning
Play pillars religiously — the Priest never takes line of sight from more than one enemy at a time, and the Warlock stays mid-range so Fear and DoTs land while keeping a pillar between himself and enemy casters. The Rogue roams to the far side of the target to bait defensive cooldowns away from the healer. Against melee, kite them into the Warlock's DoTs and Howl of Terror while the Priest LoS-heals; against casters, close distance so your Rogue and Felhunter can interrupt and Spell Lock their heals and CC.
Vs. the meta
The mirror-that-outbursts-you. Their Mage Sheeps your Priest and Counterspells the school he needs while Rogue+Mage blow up a target faster than your DoTs matter. Use Cloak of Shadows and Felhunter Spell Lock to protect against the Sheep-on-Priest, pre-dispel Frostbolt slows off your Rogue with Devour Magic, and pool for a fast go on THEIR Priest — force him to trinket the Blind early, then Mana Burn and re-CC. Never let your Priest get caught in the open; win the mana game by making their Mage blow Ice Block and Blink defensively.
Rogue/Mage/Druid outlasts attrition — the Druid HoTs roll through your DoTs and cyclones your Priest out while Mage burst punishes any peel. Tunnel the Druid: spread DoTs to deny his drink/regen, coordinate Fear + Kidney Shot to pin him out of LoS of his team, and Mana Burn hard since a druid in Cyclone chains can't dispel your Priest. Save Cloak and Devour for the Cyclone/Poly on your Priest, and don't overextend your Rogue where a Blind-less Mage can Blast Wave + Sheep him off the kill.
Gear requirements
- ▸Rogue and Warlock prioritize resilience to survive enemy setups, then hit/spell hit caps so Blind, DoTs and poisons land; Rogue wants a fast off-hand for Kidney uptime.
- ▸Priest stacks resilience and spell power with heavy mana/regen (Warlock Life Tap eases this) to outlast Mana Burn wars; Warlock values Shadow spell power and Felhunter uptime over raw crit.
Tips
- •Assign dispels: Priest cleanses magic off the Rogue and Warlock, Felhunter Devours the debuff that would peel your kill — don't double-dispel the same target and waste globals.
- •Reapply Unstable Affliction on anyone who spam-dispels; the silence-on-dispel punishes their healer and buys your kill window.
- •Blind is your best defensive AND offensive tool — hold it to break a kill on your Priest, or drop it on the healer for the finish, but never waste it on the opener.
- •Keep DoTs on the enemy healer at all times even when swapping targets; the passive mana drain from him healing through them is half your win condition.
