Overview
MLP is a double-caster control comp built around the disc priest's toolkit. Between Polymorph, the warlock's Fear, and the priest's Psychic Scream you can keep the enemy team acting on your terms while warlock DoTs chip and the mage sets up a Shatter kill. The priest changes the identity versus MLD: Mana Burn turns any healer mirror into a drain war you can simply win, and Dispel Magic, Fear Ward, and Power Word: Shield keep your fragile casters standing through incoming CC.
The cost is the priest's lack of an escape. A druid kites; a priest gets sat on. If a melee train reaches the priest and your CC chain slips, the backline has little raw survivability. It rewards crisp CC layering across DR categories, disciplined Mana Burn timing, and constant peeling for the healer.
Win condition
Layer Polymorph + Fear + Psychic Scream so the enemy can't act, then either land a mage Shatter combo on a controlled target or Mana Burn the enemy healer to empty and grind the team down with warlock DoTs.
Strengths
- +Double-caster CC: Polymorph + Fear + Psychic Scream layer near-permanent lockdown
- +Two win conditions — Shatter burst OR Mana Burn the enemy healer dry
- +Priest dispels, Fear Ward, and Power Word: Shield keep the casters alive under CC
Weaknesses
- −Priest lacks a druid's mobility — trained melee can pin and kill it
- −If the CC chain drops the whole squishy backline is exposed
Cooldown timeline
Sheep one target, warlock Fears another and spreads Corruption + Curse of Agony + Unstable Affliction on everything. On the kill go: mage Frostbolt → Frost Nova → Shatter (Ice Lance + Frostbolt + Icy Veins) on the target while the priest Psychic Screams the incoming melee and the warlock adds Death Coil + Shadowbolt. If no kill, pivot to Mana Burn on the enemy healer, Fear Ward the priest, and reset with Ice Block or a fresh Fear chain.
Positioning
All three play LoS off a pillar and hold max range from melee; the priest hugs the pillar hardest since it can't kite. Cross-peel with Frost Nova, Fear, and Psychic Scream, and keep the priest's back to the wall so no one can line up a stun from an angle it can't see.
Vs. the meta
Instant double-warrior cleave ignores your CC and trains the priest, who can't kite out. Peel relentlessly — Psychic Scream + Frost Nova + Fear on the warriors, Polymorph the healer only when a warrior is already CC'd, and blow Power Word: Shield early. Don't try to out-tempo them; out-control them and burst only once both warriors are peeled off.
Relentless DoT + rogue pressure and Purge on your priest out-paces a slow setup. Never let the priest get dispel-locked or trained — Fear Ward against the rogue's opener, Mana Burn the shaman between peels, and Counterspell/Spell Lock the shaman's heals. Kill the rogue when it commits, or drain the shaman before your priest runs dry.
Gear requirements
- ▸All three want resilience + stamina; the priest needs mana longevity and Mana Burn to stay ahead in the drain war
- ▸Mage needs a lethal Shatter (spell power), warlock needs DoT power, priest prioritizes resilience over throughput
Tips
- •Layer CC across DR categories — Poly, Fear, and Scream are separate, so nothing overlaps.
- •Mana Burn is a full second win condition; if the kill stalls, drain the healer instead of forcing it.
- •Fear Ward and Dispel Magic on your own casters break the enemy's CC setup — keep them ready.
- •Protect the priest's position above all — it has no escape, so a pillar and pre-emptive peels are its mobility.
