Overview
Warrior/Resto Shaman is a no-setup cleave. The warrior applies instant Mortal Strike pressure (−50% healing) while the shaman drops Windfury and Strength of Earth totems, keeps Earth Shield rolling, and Purges the enemy healer's defensives on every spare global. You don't script a kill — you pressure constantly and cash in a Bloodlust window when a Windfury proc lines up with the warrior's cooldowns.
The catch is range and mana. You have no way to Mana Burn a patient team and no way to catch a kiter who keeps the warrior snared, so a Frost Mage or Hunter that trains your shaman with Poly, Mana Burn, and kicks is your nightmare. Queue this into melee and uptime comps where your burst and Purge dominate, and lean on Grounding/Tremor and Nature's Swiftness to survive the games where the shaman gets hunted.
Win condition
Land a Bloodlust-fueled burst — Windfury procs + Mortal Strike (−50% healing) + Recklessness/Death Wish — on a target the enemy healer can't top through the Mortal Strike debuff, while Purge keeps their shields and Freedom stripped so the pressure never resets.
Strengths
- +Windfury Totem + Mortal Strike + Bloodlust turn one global into a real delete window
- +Purge is constant tempo — strips Freedom, Power Word: Shield, and HoTs to crack healer comps open
- +Resto Shaman is one of the stickiest 2s healers: Earth Shield, Grounding, Tremor, and Nature's Swiftness
Weaknesses
- −Frost Mages and Hunters kite the warrior while the shaman gets Polymorphed / Mana Burned / kicked out of the game
- −No Mana Burn of your own, and the shaman's heals are hardcast — a trained, kicked shaman folds without Nature's Swiftness up
Cooldown timeline
Warrior Charges → Hamstring → Mortal Strike on cooldown. Shaman drops Windfury + Strength of Earth totems, Earth Shields the warrior, and Purges the enemy healer's shields/HoTs. On the kill window: Bloodlust → warrior pops Recklessness + Death Wish + trinket with Mortal Strike active and a Windfury proc lined up. If they swap the shaman, Grounding Totem eats the Poly/Fear, Nature's Swiftness + Healing Wave covers the burst, and the warrior peels back with Intercept/Piercing Howl.
Positioning
Warrior sticks to the kill target; the shaman plays a pillar with totems down and Earth Shield rolling, staying out of melee LoS so it can hardcast Healing Wave safely. When a rogue or mage swaps the shaman, the warrior peels with Intercept, Hamstring, and Piercing Howl while the shaman self-peels with Frost Shock and Earthbind Totem. Never let the shaman get cornered in the open where it can't juke a cast.
Vs. the meta
The mage kites your warrior all game and the priest Mana Burns the shaman — the worst matchup. Grounding Totem the Polymorph, Spell Reflect the Poly on the warrior, and use Piercing Howl + Intercept to close on the mage. Force an early Ice Block, then Bloodlust and all-in the mage the moment Block drops; you cannot win the long kite.
The rogue trains your shaman while the priest Blinds and Mana Burns. Trinket the opener stun, Nature's Swiftness through the Kidney, and have the warrior sit on the rogue with Hamstring/Piercing Howl so it can never free-cast a setup. Purge the priest's shield every global and swap the warrior to the priest during a Blind on your shaman.
Gear requirements
- ▸Warrior: a big two-hander first (Windfury and Mortal Strike scale off weapon damage), then resilience
- ▸Shaman: resilience + mp5 with constant Earth Shield uptime for the long games
Tips
- •Purge is half your offense — strip Blessing of Freedom, Power Word: Shield, and HoTs on every spare global.
- •Windfury Totem is your burst enabler; keep it and Strength of Earth down, and time the swap around a Windfury proc.
- •Grounding Totem eats the Polymorph or Fear aimed at your shaman — pre-drop it on the kill attempt and vs caster teams.
- •Spell Reflect is a real cooldown: bounce Poly and Fear back, and let the shaman Tremor out of Fear chains.
